Ownership

Takhini Hot Pools is owned and operated by Andrew Umbrich and Lauren O’Coffey. They are dedicated to providing the best possible service to all hot springs visitors. In May 2014, Andrew and Lauren leased the hot springs.

Andrew was born and raised in Whitehorse, Yukon. He was brought up in the Tourism Industry; as a child he lived in a Bed & Breakfast where he ate breakfast every morning with different people from around the world. In his teenage years he worked a variety of jobs related to tourism and worked for many years on the Takhini Hot Springs property where he worked and managed the hot springs pools, campground, and the Hot Springs Valley Retreat. During his time at university he had the opportunity to travel and study in many countries. Andrew completed his Master’s Degree in Iceland; he visited all the hot springs on the island and experienced firsthand a country built on geothermal energy. Andrew is a multilingual person who enjoys meeting and talking with people from around the world. He loves to travel and learn new languages.

Lauren was born in raised in Edson, Alberta. As a teenager she worked and operated a campground with her family. Later she attended Art School in Halifax and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts. During her studies in Halifax she became infatuated with the Yukon and decided to spend a summer there working as a painter. She quickly became addicted to the north and returned every summer until she finished her studies and decided to call the Yukon her home! Today, she and her fiancé (Andrew), live and work on the hot springs property. Lauren enjoys going for hikes and discovering the beautiful trails on the property. When she isn’t working on her art, she can often be seen working the front desk or soaking in the hot springs.
