From
May to September, the Equinox Rox Outdoor Climbing Tower
offers a challenge to both novice and advanced climbers.
The tower is 32' high (10 metres) and can be scaled by six
different routes. One side of the tower tilts inward to give
new climbers a break while the other has an overhang for
those looking for a challenge!
At the top of the tower, there is a 14' x 14' deck - perfect
for rappelling, taking panoramic photographs of the stunningly
beautiful Takhini River valley and watching sunsets.
From the deck you can launch yourself down
the 300 metre (1,000 foot) zipline, which is a steel cable
stretching from
the deck across the pond. You wear a helmet and safety
harness that hooks onto a pulley on the cable. It’s possible
to reach speeds of 50-60 kph as you zip through the air.
The ‘flight’ takes you over the trees and across
the pond to a landing pad. Thrilling! Awesome! Amazing! are
common adjectives we hear from “Zippers.”
All equipment is provided. The safety system
includes harness, helmet, rope, and belay post. Basic instruction
is given
to all climbers and staff provide climbing assistance if
necessary. Staff supervise the tower and zipline at all
times. There is a high staff-to-climber ratio for maximum
safety.
Programs include:
- Drop-in Climbing / Day Passes
- Lessons / Rock Climbing Courses (every Thursday evening)
- Kids Club weekend afternoons
- Group bookings
- Teambuilding Programs
